MASSAGE & BODYWORK TECHNIQUE TOUR
Instructor: Yusuf Mihaylov
Over the years, many massage therapists have told me they’d like to have a more diverse set of techniques at their fingertips — to make their work more effective for their clients, while also making it more efficient and easier on their own bodies.
Massage schools provide an essential foundation, but there is only so much that can be covered in basic training. Even experienced therapists can find themselves relying on a limited number of familiar strokes and techniques when there is actually a much wider range of possibilities.
In this hands-on seminar, we’ll refresh the fundamentals and then expand into advanced techniques and approaches drawn from my 35 years of work in U.S. medical massage, Russian massage, and Chinese medicine. Many of the techniques I demonstrate are rarely taught in U.S. massage programs. We’ll explore a systematic approach, including:
- 7 primary and auxiliary massage strokes
- Up to 40 working surfaces of the fingers, hands, forearms, and elbows
- 10 different directions and movements
- Adapting techniques according to pressure, treatment area, and tissues
- 20 specialized, less commonly taught massage techniques
The goal is not simply to collect more techniques, but to understand how to choose and combine them intelligently. A broader therapeutic toolbox can make bodywork more versatile while reducing unnecessary effort and repetition. I want you to leave with techniques you can immediately incorporate into your work, along with new ways of thinking about touch, movement, pressure, and the use of your own body as a therapeutic instrument.
