Try a Trendy Charcoal Spa Treatment

Yes, you read that right – charcoal!!  This latest beauty trend may sound strange, but activated charcoal is the popular star in new product lines from top brands like Clinique and Origins. Here’s why – Charcoal draws out excess oil, impurities and toxins from your skin and hair. Don’t be afraid of the dark inky color. It’s actually inexpensive, easy to use, and leaves you looking fabulous. You can find activated charcoal in powder or capsules in health-food stores and Amazon.com. If you pick up the capsules, just open and empty the contents to use. Talk to your massage therapist and don’t be shy. Ask to have a charcoal spa treatment. These trained technicians are your friend and they are there to help you select the best treatment for your skin and body. Your massage therapist can turn you on to the best skin care products for your skin type.

Try These Charcoal Recipes

Clarifying Charcoal Baking Soda Shampoo – for bouncy, shiny hair. This shampoo delivers instant body and shine. The charcoal locks onto product residue so it rinses away, and the baking soda balances your scalp’s natural oils for healthier hair. This works best for removing excess oil and product buildup that can weigh down your hair. 1 cup warm water 1 tsp. baking soda ¼ tsp. activated charcoal powder Mix all ingredients in a bowl. When you get in the shower, wet your hair and massage the mixture into damp scalp and hair. Rinse well. Condition as usual.   Charcoal Java Body Polish – Get an all over glow. This is a purifying scrub that works to pull toxins from your skin. Massaging this scrub into your skin boosts circulation and lets the caffeinated coffee penetrate deep, to flush toxins from below the skin. It will leave your skin softer, healthier, and more radiant. 1 cup caffeinated coffee grounds ½ cup coconut oil 1 tsp. activated charcoal powder Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Massage the scrub into the skin from your chest down. Rinse well with warm water. To finish off, apply your favorite body lotion.
