Treating Your Client after an Auto Accident

Auto accident injuries may occur even after what seems like a very minor accident. Most accidents will leave your clients with soft tissue injuries and soreness, at the very least. This is especially true of the neck, shoulder and back areas.When treating clients with massage after an auto accident, be sure to ask questions about where in the body they are experiencing the greatest level of discomfort and soreness. Concentrate on those areas with the goal of relieving soreness, tension and pain. Make sure that when you are massaging your client that you do not cause undo discomfort to any sore sports.
One area that is sometimes overlooked when massaging auto accident clients is the scalp. In rear end accidents, the muscles of the scalp often become stiff and painful. Massaging this area can be quite beneficial.
While performing a massage, be aware of any areas of the body that appear to be particularly painful, red or swollen. If these type of areas are present, advise clients to seek medical advice if they have not already done so.
One of the main goals of massage after an auto accident is to promote relaxation. The period after an accident is a stressful time your clients. Allowing you clients to be relaxed and at ease will promote mental as well as physical well being.
