You are probably wondering where exactly you will be working after massage school. Many students have this question and they are curious where a massage therapist works. Knowing about the different places where you may work will help you decide which focus is right for you and you will also know what to expect and how to prepare for your career.   Spa One of the many facilities you may find yourself working in is a spa. Licensed spas hire massage therapists to provide services to their clients. You will see clients on a regular basis and they will come in to receive relief from their aching joints and muscles. In this type of environment, you will see people who are looking for a relaxing experience and want to come in, lay down, and enjoy their massage. Many spa facilities offer a multitude of different massages including hot stone, Swedish relaxation, deep tissue, reflexology, and more.   Medical Office Massage therapists work in medical offices and may work alongside a physical therapist. In this type of setting, you would be delivering a massage to someone to help them regain movement in their hurt limbs. Many physical therapy patients were injured in an accident or had some type of surgery performed. This setting is much different than a spa.   Fitness Center Some fitness centers hire massage therapists to offer massages to their members. These members will come to you to receive a massage when they are hurting or want to prevent any type of injury from occurring. Massages before and after a workout will help keep the muscles in good shape.   Independent You can work as your own boss and open your own company. With this option, you will be able to set your own hours, decide your workspace, and run your company the way you want. Many individuals choose this option because of the freedom that comes with it.   Chiropractic Offices Chiropractic offices use massage therapists to help them when they need to deliver a massage to a patient. This patient will typically suffer from back pain or neck pain and need relief. You will be responsible for relieving this pain for them.   Deciding Where You Fit You will need to decide which option is best for you and where you ideally want to work. All of the above listed facilities are very different from each other and you will be doing different jobs at each one. You may need more skills to work at one place than the other and one job may require more than the next. Your massage career is only a short distance away and now is the time to start considering where you want to begin your future.
