A successful makeup artist needs to have the right supplies in their toolkit in order to do their job successfully. In addition to makeup, a set of great tools is a must. Below you will find a list of the top five tools any makeup artist should always have on hand.
Chisel tip eye shadow brush: This brush is a go-to tool for most every makeup application. From a smoky eye to an avant-garde design, this tool can create a sharp edge like nothing else.
Cotton swabs: In many cases a cotton swab is the perfect solution for the job. From wiping away smeared eye liner to applying a quick coat of gloss to a line of models, these inexpensive, disposable tools do the trick. Because you can toss out a used cotton swab without remorse it often helps speed up application and clean up time as well as keeping your makeups sanitized.
Tweezers: This tool is invaluable. It’s a must for plucking stray eyebrows or applying false eye lashes.
Anti-bacterial brush cleaner- The average person rarely cleans their brushes, but as a professional, it is important to hold yourself to a higher standard. Frequency of cleaning is a personal preference, but it is necessary to clean your entire brush set often. To sanitize brushes keep a brush cleaner right in your kit so it’s never missing.
Nail polish remover-This seems like an odd tool to keep in your case, but it’s for you, not your model. In a profession where image is everything, it is unacceptable to have chipping, dirty finger nails, especially when you will be working with your hands close to someone’s face. Keep your nails fresh and hands clean at all times.
