Skin care specialists are able to help you maintain the health of your skin and will overall help your skin feel better. These specialists know how to layer creams on your face to achieve the best results possible. You are probably wondering exactly how they do it and how you can recreate what they do at home. Many people use different creams including a moisturizer, eye cream, sunscreen, and more. Each cream should go on separate and you will notice that once you have the layering down, everything else is a breeze. It is often recommended that you first start with the thinnest of the creams and then gradually move to the thickest cream. Always make sure that you are rubbing them in, otherwise you may be left with globs or your skin may feel heavy.

Wash

You want to make sure you wash your face first and foremost. This will prepare the pores to receive the moisturizing treatments you are about to place on them. Always wash with a mild soap and lukewarm water for best results.

Toner

Now it is time to apply the toner to your face. Toner is very thin and light so it will not be heavy on your skin at all. It dries quickly and can be applied with a cotton swab.

Spot Treatment

Many women use spot treatments to handle zits or other blemishes. You should apply this after your toner since it is much thinner than any moisturizer. The product is lightweight and since it is a spot treatment, you are only using it on problem areas and not the whole face.

Serum

If you are using a gel or liquid serum, now is the time to apply it to your face. You can place it wherever it needs to go.

Creams

You can now apply any creams you have such as eye cream, dark circle cream, etc. These are typically thinner than a moisturizer and should be used before them.

Moisturize

You can now moisturize your face with any type of moisturizer you or your skin care specialist choose. Make sure to rub it in well and always cover your entire face.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen is an important part of any beauty routine, but it can be thick. You should apply it to your skin after you have moisturized and your face is ready. Always make sure the sunscreen is dry before continuing your routine, otherwise you may end up with choppy lines or visible makeup streaks.

Makeup

Now is the time to apply your make up to your face. Start with your foundation and work your way around your face. You can apply eye shadows, blushes, and more at this point.

Head Out

Now that you have your face regime down, you can do it quickly and head out of the house in no time. A nightly routine is important to care for your face as well. You can follow the same steps, just leaving out the sunscreen and makeup.
