When you're considering spa treatments and trying to decide between facial hair removal options, plucking and waxing are two of the most popular choices. Read on to learn more about the pros and cons of plucking or waxing your eyebrows and upper lip hair.

Safety

While tweezing is safe for most people, certain groups should not be waxed. For example, if you smoke, take blood thinners, have rosacea, take prescription acne medication, or have lupus or AIDS, waxing can cause damage to your skin.

Longevity

When hair is tweezed, it grows back fairly quickly. That means if you don't like the results, you don't have to live with them for too long. Tweezing also removes less hair than waxing. By contrast, waxing is a good option if you have hair that grows back quickly; the results usually last at least three weeks.

Upkeep

Because waxing involves applying a hot substance to your skin, it's always best to see a skin care specialist for this services rather than attempting to wax on your own. In addition, the messy process makes it difficult to do on your own. However, that means you're paying for a pricey salon service each month. By contrast, tweezing can be easily done at home, for just the cost of a good pair of tweezers. If you prefer your beauty routine to be DIY, tweezing might be the best option for you.   Though there's no one-size-fits-all answer, many beauty-savvy ladies first go to the salon to have their brows shaped with waxing, then keep up the shape at home with tweezing. As with all skin care routines, discontinue and see your dermatologist if you notice pain, redness, or swelling after skin care treatments.
