As the need for people in the massage industry increases, the demand for nursing home massage therapists is on the rise. More and more senior citizens are moving into nursing homes to spend their final years.  While in the nursing home, senior citizens are able to enjoy of the benefits of massage.  Massage therapy is a low cost treatment that allows for elderly clients to have a better quality of life.

Nursing home massage therapists work with elderly clients who can no longer care for them selves.  Many people in nursing homes experience pain, depression, anxiety, immobility, and social isolation.  Although massage therapists are not able to control the aging process, they can help their clients relive stress, reduce pain and improve their mood.  Massage therapists who work in nursing homes must be able to work with elderly patients and be sensitive to their needs.  They need to be flexible and open to different techniques that will best suit their clients.   These massage therapists should be excited about helping others and wanting to improve their quality of life.

If you are interested in working in a nursing home as a massage therapist, contact Space Coast Health Institute at 321-308-8000 to find out more about their program.
