Not Only a Therapist - You Are a Healer

Massage therapy is often thought of as simply a way to relax. Today, however, massage is used for far more than relaxation. The health benefits of using massage therapy to treat injuries are incredible. So much so that some companies have decided to provide health insurance coverage for the service. As a massage therapist, you may be asked to assist someone who is suffering excruciating pain from soft tissue or muscle damage. Some of your clients could suffer from headaches, insomnia or extreme anxiety and come to you in the hopes of finding a solution to their injuries or ailments. Where they would be cornered and forced to turn to prescription drugs for relief, you offer them a safe and side-effect-free alternative. Even chronic pain disorders such as fibromyalgia and arthritis have been successfully treated using massage therapy. Athletes and those whose jobs require large amounts of physical labor have reported relief from muscular injury and over use. And while they may initially seek your services in search of alleviating a specific pain or dealing with a particular issue, you also know that you are giving them the added benefits of better sleep quality, improved circulation, increased concentration, and a decrease in stress. The prolonged use of prescription drugs sometimes carries the risk of permanently damaging the body. Choosing massage as a treatment plan, or part of a treatment plan also allows most clients the option to receive services in the privacy of their own home. You provide a valuable healthcare support service that will allow your client to negate that risk while still being able to alleviate their pain. Massage therapy is so much more than just a way to unwind. It is a safe and effective way to heal people of their pain.
