This is a fast growing career because many people like and also need to have massages performed and the convenience of a traveling therapist makes it very lucrative. There are always precautions you will want to take when you are offering your services as a mobile massage therapist. This is a self-employed massage practice and you do not have to answer to anyone and can work at your own pace, with your own clients, and where you want. Whether you are just starting your business or you are looking to expand it a little further, think about these mobile massage tips and keep them in the back of your head.
Meet
It is important to meet your clientele before just showing up for a massage. This will allow the two of you to talk and understand each other. You will be able to ask them what they are looking for and you two can set goals for treatment.
Office vs. Home
You will need to sit down and think about where you are comfortable performing your massages. Some mobile therapists will travel to client’s homes but others will limit their interaction to only an office setting. This is something that you will need to decide on and you will need to think about what you are most comfortable with. An office setting is much safer than a home setting and weighing your pros and cons will help you better approach what you want to do. You could always eventually offer in home massages to those who you meet through the office environment setting.
Where You Are
Always let someone know where you are. Designate someone to be your go to person and you can text this person where you are going, let them know how long until they should hear back from you, and what to do if they do not hear back from you. This will keep you safe at all times and someone will always know where you are in case something happens.
Instincts
Your instincts are there for a reason and if you feel that something is not right or you do not feel comfortable, trust yourself. It is always better to be safe than sorry. When it comes to the mobile massage industry, you will need to worry about more than just tips for yourself and you will need to think about how to improve your customer base and keep your customers happy. Timeliness
Always arrive to your location early so that you will not be late. You want to arrive with enough time to set up your table and get everything ready. If you show up on time and need to take time to set up your equipment, you are actually considered late by the time you are ready to begin.
Relaxation
It is important to make sure that your client feels comfortable and is always relaxed when they are in your care. You should provide them with all of the things they need to feel comfortable. Always be encouraging and always offer to help them when you can. Being a mobile massage therapist is a rewarding job. You will be able to help people relax and receive relief from their pain and stress.
