Meditating For Better Skin

We've seen all the skin care ads promoting a daily skin care routine or the services of a local esthetician. While it's rarely mentioned in all those ads, stress is a huge contributing factor to unhealthy looking skin. So how can we add stress relief to our daily skin care routine? Meditation, that's how.

Using meditation to improve skin is actually just one of the many benefits of meditation. It can reduce stress, lower your blood pressure and help with focus. So how does that relate to skincare? As any esthetician will tell you, some of the best things for your skin is rest, oxygen and don't frown or wrinkle your brow. While meditating the breath deepens which increases the amount of oxygen to all of the bodies organs, the largest being our skin. It also relaxes our brains and allows for deeper and more peaceful rest. Through this relaxation of our brain, we become less worried and more able to focus. Less worry and stress allows our facial muscles to relax, smoothing out all of those fine lines and wrinkles.

Adding this new element can seem daunting, but it's really not as difficult as it may seem. Using meditation to improve your skin only takes a few minutes. Seriously! Just a few minutes a day is all you need when using meditation to improve skin.

The easiest way to begin is to sit alone in a quiet space and count your breath's for five minutes. That's it. Just five easy minutes. Now here's the catch. You have to stay focused on counting your breath for the whole five minutes. Don't worry if you fail the first couple of times. It's normal for the undisciplined mind to wander off. Just keep at it. Breathe in for four counts and out for 4 counts. Before you know it you'll be relaxed and refreshed. The proof will be in your skin.
