Meditation May Be best Daily Skin Beautification Routine
The skin is the human body’s largest organ. What’s happening on the surface of the skin can be an indicator of a person’s overall health. People who routinely experience high levels of stress often have this show up in their skin in the form of rashes, hives, blisters, and discoloration, such as looking unusually pale, waxy or flushed.
Furthermore, stress almost always worsens skin conditions that already exist, such as psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, and acne.
While these conditions can be treated with external and internal medicines, an esthetician will recommend taking on the factor that is directly causing the problem. That means reducing stress. One of the best-understood ways to reduce stress is to take up some form of meditative practice. In fact, just 10 to 15 minutes per day of sitting in quiet meditation may be the best daily skincare routine.
Using meditation to improve skin has been established by scientific research to be an effective way to heal and improve the look of skin. A study published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine tells why. Meditation lowers the level of the stress-response hormone cortisol in the body. The study showed that just 12 minutes of practice for four consecutive days reduced cortisol by 20%.
A well-documented effect of meditative practice is increased blood flow to the head. That includes more oxygen-rich blood flowing to the skin of the face. Strong blood circulation makes for a more robust process of flushing cellular skin debris.
Finally, meditation improves breathing so much that it enables to body to release toxins when you exhale. This toxin-releasing effect through outgoing breath expels more of the bad stuff than sweating.
An esthetician is an expert who specializes in skincare and the beautification of the skin. Rather than rely on drugs that can have toxic side effects, estheticians can provide a range of holistic solutions to return skin to vibrant health and appearance.
