Washing dishes and using hand sanitizers are two things in life that are unavoidable. In order to run a household, you must keep your dishes washed, and in order to fight harmful germs, you must keep your hands sanitized. Frequently washing dishes and sanitizing your hands can quickly take a toll on your skin and leave you with dry, itchy hands. Listed below are a couple helpful skin care tips to help with your dry hands.

Always Use Luke Warm Water When Possible

Hot water coupled with dish detergent (which is a naturally drying substance to skin) can leave your hands dried, cracked and hurting. In order to wash your dishes and get them clean and sanitized you must use warm water; however, you can use luke warm water for washing dishes. Warm water instead of hot will allow your skin to fight against the stripping of natural oils and allow your hands to keep their natural moisture.

Use Skin Care Products When Possible

Many individuals do not utilize available lotions because they do not like the oily, wet feeling they are left with once they apply the hand care product. There are now a wide variety of hand care products on the market today that leave your hands feeling refreshed without feeling oily. It is important to always moisturize your hands after washing or when they are feeling dry.

Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliating on a regular basis, such as every other week, helps ensure that the skin is able to properly soak up moisturizer. When moisturizing on non-exfoliated skin the moisturizer must fight to work through the dead, dry skin cells, but when the skin is exfoliated, the moisturizer can instantly begin working for your skin. These are just a couple skin care tips to help combat dry, cracking skin. When your hands are dry and cracked, it makes it much more difficult to perform everyday tasks, but with proper care, you can easily help keep your hands moisturized and in the best shape possible.
