Most massage therapists practice their craft on adults. There are some massage therapists that work with senior citizens. Because of the new research that shows the many benefits of massage without the harmful effect of drugs, more and more people are turning to this holistic method to treat a variety of medical ailments. Therefore, the need for licensed massage therapists continues to grow.

Some massage therapists prefer to massage infants versus adults. Although working as a massage therapist for infants is a very different experience than working as a massage therapist for adults, it can be a very reward and fulfilling career. In order to be licensed to become an infant massage therapist, one must go though massage school and graduate. Having specific classes and techniques about massaging infants is necessary. The way that a massage therapist not only massages but also interacts with an infant is different than they way he/she will massage and interact with an adult client. It is important that those looking to become a massage therapist for infants have a good understanding of an infant's body and how to handle it.

If you are interested in becoming a massage therapist, contact Space Coast Health Institute at 321-308-8000 to find out more about their program.
