Does the gender of a massage therapist matter to you? The verdict is still out on this but for the most part men prefer female massage therapists but women don't seem to have a preference. Another reason gender of a massage therapist may matter is the size and strength of the therapist. Men, usually the bigger and stronger of the two genders, have more ability to dig deep into your muscle knots and work on deep tissue. This could lead both men and women to prefer male therapists. On the other hand some people may find men to be too rough and too physical. In these cases women will be preferred due to their softer touch and more nurturing attitudes. Sometimes clients simply prefer a massage therapist of the same gender in order to feel comfortable. Admittedly, some clients may actually prefer the opposite gender because they enjoy the touch and hint of romantic tension during the session. Why not make your session as pleasurable as possible? The belief is that most clients would enjoy both a female and a male massage therapist but the clients experience will likely be different depending on the therapists gender. Our advice would be to try several therapists of both genders and learn what you enjoy the most. Then stick to your favorite!
