Maintain Work and Studies During the Holidays
Posted on: December 20, 2019
As a spa student, the holiday season is great because you get to get away from school for a couple of weeks. During this time, you will probably get to kick back and relax a little bit, letting your mind rest and recover from the last couple of months of hard work. Relaxing is healthy and even necessary, but be careful. It is not recommended to avoid productive activities altogether. This is a bad habit that could carry over when you return to school, especially if you overdo it. Instead, try to incorporate both relaxation and a light workload into your break so that you can maintain a healthy balance.
Our minds are very powerful, as you probably know. School is all about using your mind to learn new ideas, concepts, and applications. Unfortunately, the mind will not learn things on its own. It takes a conscious effort on your part in order to keep the mind sharp and in a constant mode of learning.
During school, you are held accountable to work hard. When you work hard as such, you don't have to worry about losing brain power or becoming sluggish. Teachers expect you to get assignments and homework done on time. However, what happens when those teachers are not there, such as over your holiday break?
Over the break, it is your responsibility to choose to study hard or not. As long as you have gotten enough rest, it is perfectly fine to continue studying. In fact, you can even take this time to study something that interests you outside of your schoolwork. School teaches the basics which are very important, but books and the internet allow you to learn anything you want. Taking the time to learn a new topic of your own choice can be extremely helpful for keeping your mind sharp and preparing you for classes when it is time to go back to school.
Time management is another important idea to keep in mind over break. No longer will you have a set time to wake up, eat lunch, and study. It is up to you now to choose the most appropriate time to do these things. After school is over for good, time management is extremely important for your life and therefore it is a good idea to learn it as early as possible.
Reading, solving puzzles, playing board games, assembling projects, and many other mind-stimulating activities are great alternatives for those who simply refuse to study over the break. In the end, it is all about keeping a healthy life balance at all times, not just when you are in school and feel like you have to. Hopefully, you will figure out a way to keep your mind sharp while still getting to enjoy the holiday season!
