The skincare pros help burn victims and deformed patients. They provide basic to advanced makeup tips that improve the face and skin. The main point is to improve the person’s self-esteem and confidence. Patients are given makeovers to relax and relieve themselves of stressful treatments.

Medical estheticians are qualified to work alongside plastic surgeons. The skin experts work with people before and after medical treatments are done. Estheticians work with surgeons to make sure that skin treatments, like massage and exfoliation, are done in a way that does not undermine the treatment. For instance, some patients have stitches and bandaged parts that cannot be disturbed.

Dermatologists also work with estheticians. Both of these careers involve special training to improve the skin’s appearance. Estheticians teach people how to use the right lotions and exfoliation chemicals. These specialists know about acne, rosacea and other skin disorders. However, they are usually not able to administer invasive treatments, like Botox, but they may be able to do laser procedures and chemical peels.

There are estheticians who also administer non-medical skin treatments. Some start their own spas and others work in resorts. The treatments involve taking care of the skin and pampering the client. Exfoliation and facial massages are typical procedures. Spa estheticians create customized skincare plans and choose the right cosmetics products for customers. In many spas, the experts make money from sales percentages on purchases.
