If you have graduated from an esthetician or massage school and are considering opening your own spa, it is important that you know what you are getting into.  A spa is not going to be successful because of one person’s technical skills.  There are other factors that make a spa successful.

Customer service is a very important part of a successful spa.  Clients need to feel comfortable communicating with all employees in a spa.  Employees must be sensitive to client’s needs, conduct themselves in a professional manner and have proper etiquette.  Another important part of a successful spa is sales.  Most massage therapist and estheticians are not trained to sell products but they should try to sell to their clients.  If the employees are excited about the products that the spa has for sale, they will be more likely to sell them to their clients.  Selling product can generate a lot of revenue in a spa.  Finally, marketing is very important to a spa.  In order for the spa to get business, people need to know that you are there.  Sending out postcards, advertising online or even flyer are ways to market your spa.  Good marketing will increase your clientele.
