How to Help Your Male Clients Feel Comfortable

Males can benefit from getting a massage just as much as females can. They experience muscle aches and pains that can be alleviated by a massage as opposed to taking potentially damaging pain killers. An office job can put a lot of strain on their back and shoulders. Sports can cause stress and strain on their body. Of course, if someone has a serious injury or other medical condition, they will still need a doctor's advice and help. While men can benefit from massages, many men are afraid to take the leap. They see it as something that is feminine or out of their comfort zone. However, massage therapists can take steps that make the experience more suited to the desires of men.
First, the atmosphere of the room should have masculine undertones. Using a scent that is more earthy can invoke feelings of comfort because it is something that they are more used to. You can also play music that is less delicate. For example, an acoustic guitar soundtrack is just as relaxing as a harp, but it does not have any connotation of being feminine.
The massage therapist can also spend some time talking to their male clients about the process. There might be a specific part of the massage that makes them uncomfortable. They may have had a past experience that left a bad taste in their mouth. They may just not have many male friends who engage in this activity. The massage therapist can be the one to calm these fears and adjust the appointment accordingly.
Comfort is of the utmost importance when it comes to getting a massage. If the male client is tense and rigid during the entire thing, he won't get all the benefits that he could. Making the effort to relax the client will keep them coming back.
