How Serious is Dehydration

The Severity of Hydration and How to Fix It

Dehydration is a common condition, but its health risks can be underrated. When the body lacks the necessary fluids to function, it can begin with the inability to pee and not being able to sweat and eventually leads to even worse health issues, including headaches, dizziness, and even brain damage or death. It is important to understand that once your body begins to feel thirsty, you’ve already become dehydrated.

Being dehydrated also begins to take a toll on your physical appearance. For instance, being dehydrated makes skincare more difficult. When your body has minimal amounts of water, the skin also becomes dry, making your skin tone appear more dull and uneven. The elasticity in your skin is also impacted, making fine lines and wrinkles even more visible. Dehydration has the same impact on hair, causing it to become brittle and more susceptible to split ends and breakage.

There are ways to improve your healthy living habits and become dehydrated less regularly. For instance, setting a goal to drink water throughout the day will keep your body, skin, and hair properly hydrated. Eating hydrating foods, including watermelon, cucumbers, and spinach, will contribute to your body's water intake, making your chances of experiencing dehydration even slimmer. In addition to drinking water and eating a healthier diet, be sure to keep your skin and hair moisturized. This will seal in some of the fluids that are lost while being dehydrated.

If you can afford spa treatments, invest in pampering yourself. Facials and other treatments can be performed to rejuvenate your skin and improve its appearance as well as its elasticity. There are also schools that offer discounted treatments to gain experience. In addition to providing skin services, the spa student can teach their clients about health and wellness.
