Fostering Confidence in Day Spa Students

A career working in a day spa can be quite rewarding. However, it can be difficult to be a spa student. Many people doubt their abilities to perform spa treatments. The good news is that there are many things that you can do to build confidence and self-esteem in spa students.

Praise Them

One of the most important things that you can do as an instructor is to correct your students when they are wrong. If students are never corrected, then they will not learn the technique. However, it is just as important for you to praise your students. Praising them builds confidence.

Make the Right Recommendation

Some students are more skilled in certain areas than others. You may have students that are more skilled in the area of massage therapy. Others may be more skilled at doing pedicures and manicures. You should make recommendations based on your student's skill level. This will help them focus on what they are good at.

Encourage them to Work Hard

Practice helps build skill. That is why you should encourage your students to work hard. If they can build their skills, then they can also build their confidence.

Help Them Set Realistic Goals

It is important for everyone to set the bar high and work towards their goals. However, if one sets the bar too high, then this can easily lead to frustration. That is why you will need to help your students set realistic goals. They may have short-term goals that should be turned into long-term goals. Teach your students that the time it takes for them to complete a goal does not matter. All that matters is that one finishes what they got started.
