Attention deficit disorder, or ADD, is a condition that affects anywhere from three to six percent of adults. This condition can make it very difficult for a massage therapist to concentrate while working. Fortunately, there are a number of things that can be done to manage it. Below are five tips that will help massage therapists manage their ADD:

Exercise Regularly

Regular exercise can help boost mood and calm one’s mind. In fact, some studies suggest that exercise may be just as effective for treating ADD as medication. That is why massage therapists need to make sure that they take the time to exercise before or after work.

Get Plenty of Rest

Experts recommend that adults get between seven and nine hours of sleep per night. Sleep deprivation makes it harder for one to focus. People who are sleep deprived also have a more difficult time coping with stress.

Limit Your Intake Of Sugar

Excessive sugar intake has been shown to worsen ADD symptoms. That is why massage therapists need to make sure that they limit their intake of sugar. Sugary foods should be replaced with more healthy foods, such as vegetables, whole grains and fruits.

Get Organized

Massage therapists with ADD need to make sure that they take the time to get organized. It is much easier for one to stay focused and prioritize when he or she is organized. Calendars and day planners are helpful tools that can help people get organized.

Eliminate Distractions

Massage therapist should also limit distractions when they are working. People should only use their cell phone or check their email during their breaks. One will have an easier time focusing if he or she eliminates distractions.
