Branching Out on Your Own

If you have been a massage therapist for a long time, then you may be thinking about leaving the day spa that you work at and going it alone. Having your own business can be rewarding. However, it is important to note that there are pros and cons.

Pros

Job Security

If you are a massage therapist with your own business, then you do not have to worry about anyone firing you from your job. You also have the opportunity to make more money working for yourself than you would be working at someone else's day spa.

Work/Life Balance

Many people opt for going it alone because they are working too many hours. They do not get to spend a lot of time with their families. It will be easier for you to have a work/life balance if you have your own business.

Autonomy

Because you are your own boss, you have the ability to make all of your own decisions. You will be able to decide how you want your business to go.

Cons

Investment

Having your own business is not cheap. You will be taking a huge financial risk if you start your own business. You will have to invest a lot of money if you want to start a business, and there is no guarantee that your business will succeed.

Devotion

Even though you have the ability to make your own hours, you will have to work long hours to make sure that your business succeeds. You may not be able to take off as much you like.

Inconsistency

You may not have a steady income as a business owner. There may be times when you make a lot of money, but there may be other times when you do not make that much money.
