Animal Massage Therapist
Posted on: February 24, 2012
Just like people, animals can experience many benefit from massage. Massage for animals can reduce muscle pain, strengthen the body, flush out toxins, increase flexibility and help the animal feel good. Because animal bodies have a different type and composition than a human body, those who want to become animal massage therapists need to have additional training to avoid damaging the animal or themselves. It is important that the animal massage therapist know the correct pressure points of the animal he/she is massaging. If an animal is hurt during a massage and feels threatened, it may become aggressive and attack. In most circumstances, an animal massage is performed by a vet technician, a groomer or trainer. For those who are already massage therapists, becoming an animal massage therapist can be as simple as taking a few classes to get trained in animal bodywork. Becoming an animal therapist is also a great side job.
