An esthetician is someone who is responsible for treating your skin and also cosmetic rejuvenation. Once you graduate from school, you will be ready to start your career as a skin care specialist. Before you can begin your career, there are some tools that you need to be able to serve your customers best. Without these tools, you will not be able to even perform the basic treatments that your job requires. Make sure that you are prepared as an esthetician and learn about the 5 tools you need.

Exfoliating Brush and Steamer

One of the many important things that you will need in your line of work is an exfoliating brush and a steamer. The steamer is responsible for opening up your client’s pores to soften any debris and impurities that they may have. The exfoliating brush is then used to help exfoliate the face and remove the impurities and dead skin cells. Without these two simple tools, you will not be able to exfoliate someone.

Wood’s Lamp

A Wood’s Lamp is a special lamp that is designed to help you see skin imperfections and also determine what type of treatments are best for your clients. If you are not equipped with this tool then you will not be able to provide facials or perform skin consultations. This tool is a high powered UV light that will make it easier for you to give an accurate consultation.

Wax

What esthetician doesn’t have wax with them? You need to make sure that you keep this essential product with you when you graduate from school. You will use it more than you think and your clients will expect that you can perform an eyebrow wax, Brazilian wax, and more. It is important to make sure you have different types of wax and also the essentials to go with it such as wax strips, calming lotions, etc.

Cosmetics

If you are working in a position where you are responsible for applying makeup to your client’s face then you will need all of the essentials that go along with it. You need the brushes, applicators, blush, tweezers, eye shadow, eye liner, lipstick, gloss, etc. You can never be too prepared and you will also need to have a variety of colors so that you can perfectly match your client’s face and taste.

Microdermabrasion Machine

A microdermabrasion machine is a must have because this is a very popular choice among clients. This is a type of exfoliating process that will help with aging and keeps skin smooth. This machine will get a ton of use and it will pay off in the end.

As a skin care specialist you are expected to provide your clients with what they need when they need it. If you are not adequately prepared for the job then they may move on to another spa facility. Even though you just graduated from school, you can still be prepared by having the basics on hand at all times.
