5 Steps to Maintain Healthy Hair

With all the daily stress we put on our hair, it can be hard to maintain sleek and shiny locks. Pollution in the air, hot irons, and damaging products all take their toll. Here are a few tips to maintain hair that is healthy.Get the ends trimmed regularly. Split ends themselves may not be noticeable, but the lifeless appearance they create will be. A simple trim every six to eight weeks can go a long way with little effort.
Wash your hair less. This may seem counterproductive, but washing your hair daily can strip it of its natural oils. Instead, use a clarifying shampoo every other day. This will remove the residue without adding anything unnatural that may weigh it down. Unless you use massive amounts of product, hair does not get that dirty on a daily basis.
Condition your hair with every wash. Ideally, you should use a volumizing conditioner to add bounce and softness. Look for a product with silk proteins in the conditioner for a natural boost.
Deep condition your hair. Using a deep conditioner every week or every other week is necessary even if you are conditioning your hair regularly. Leave-in, deep conditioners do more than just soften the hair; they rejuvenate the scalp. In the long run, this will make your hair less prone to damage.
Embrace your natural look. It is common knowledge that too much heat is a bad thing. Straightening or curling your hair every day will do irreparable damage, even with a heat protecting product. The same applies to bleaching and coloring your hair. You can lighten or darken your hair with a few highlights as opposed to damaging all the hair.
Following these simple tips can maintain hair health for as long as you keep it up.
