So you've over-plucked your eyebrows.

Over-plucking is easier than you'd think - a few quick strokes with your tweezers, and you've gone too far. If you're panicked and afraid to leave the house, relax and take three deep breaths. This article will go over what you can do now to fix your brows, and what you can do to keep it from happening in the future.

What to Do Now

For correcting eyebrows in the short term, nothing works better than a good old fashioned eyebrow pencil. Use the pencil to gently define the edges of your brows and fill out any thin spots. If your brows hairs are especially thin, you can also use a bit of mascara to thicken them up - but don't overdo it.

Keep filling in your brows daily until your natural hair grows back in. If you find that your eyebrows are especially slow growing, there are a number of topical treatments you can apply that will speed the hair growth - but this option is rather drastic, and should only be used as a matter of last resort.

For The Future

So your brows have grown back in. But how do you avoid the mistakes of the past?

First and foremost, don't confuse volume with shape when it comes to eyebrow maintenance. If your eyebrows look too bulky, no amount of plucking will fix it. Instead, trim your brows slightly with a pair of cosmetic scissors.

When it comes to shaping, it pays to get a professional waxing. As you've probably realized by now, shaping your eyebrows correctly is harder than it seems. But you don't have to head to the salon every week. Once a professional has shaped them correctly, it's fairly easy to maintain the shape yourself at home. Just use caution, and know when to put down the scissors!
