Reflexology Helps Ease Symptoms of Menopause

Menopause is something that all women will eventually go through, but never want to think about. Along with the stigma of no longer being able to produce little versions of yourself, menopause also brings on unwanted side effects such as hot flashes, anxiety, and many others. Luckily, menopause symptoms are a direct result of estrogen and progesterone hormone levels changing, telling your body that you aren’t going to be producing any more offspring. Fortunately, those hormone levels can be put back into balance using the ancient art of reflexology.

Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is a practice that began in ancient Egyptian times and has been used throughout history to ease a variety of symptoms, even symptoms associated with menopause. This alternative medicine practice uses pressure to your hands and feet without the use of oils or lotions targeting the zones on your hands and feet that match the portion of the body that is ailing you with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques. When the massage therapist applies this pressure to the hands and feet, it allows the body to restore itself and alleviates your symptoms.

By allowing your massage therapist access to your hands and feet, the therapist can regulate your hormones and glandular functions which can alleviate both the physical and emotional menopause symptoms. Furthermore, the therapist can restore balance to your endocrine system which can ease your hot flashes and anxiety. All of this can be completed just by applying pressure to your hands and feet!

If you are looking for a non-invasive method to easing the symptoms of your menopause, reflexology may be the approach for you. Unlike other methods, this method only requires you to remove your sock and shoes.
